The Santa Maria Airport, in Portuguese " Aeroporto de Santa Maria ", is an airport on the Portuguese Azores island of Santa Maria, near the town of Vila do Porto. He was initially used as a military base and was made after the Second World War in Portugal. As of August 5, 1947, the forerunner of SATA Air Açores flew from here other airports in the Azores. Today, the airport is connected by SATA Air Açores and SATA International with the Lisbon Airport and the Airport Ponta Delgada, where also the hub of the SATA is.
