Template: Infobox city in Portugal / Maintenance / Web page is blank Santa Maria de Lamas is a Portuguese town and a municipality ( Freguesia ) with 5084 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011) in a circle ( concelho ) of Santa Maria da Feira.

History

In the city rights ( Foral ) of 1514, the King Manuel I. Santa Maria da Feira awarded, the independent community Lama was called, later named Lamas da Feira received. On August 19, 1952, the community was renamed to its present name.

On September 25, 1985, the city received the status of a Vila (German: small city).

Attractions

The former tuberculosis hospital Dispensario because Assistência Nacional aos Tuberculosos de Santa Maria de Lamas is a listed building, as well as the parish church Igreja Paroquial de Lamas (also Igreja de Santa Maria) from the early 20th century.

Sports

The place is home to União Lamas Sports Club, which was particularly well known for its football team.
