Santa Maria la Nova is a church in the Renaissance style in Palermo.

Description

At today's Piazza San Giacomo La Marina along with a hospital in the 14th century, the church of Santa Maria was built and renewed as a three-nave building in the Renaissance style between 1522 to 1531 and crowned by Giorgio Di Faccio with an octagonal dome. 1585 here founded the " Deputazione per la redenzione dei cattivi ", means to collect ransoms for captured Christians by the Turks.
