Santa Rita Mountains is a mountain range, 65 kilometers southeast of Tucson, Arizona is located and part of the Coronado National Forest. The mountain range is 42 km long and runs from northwest to southeast. Its highest point is Mount Wrightson with an altitude of 2881 meters, the highest elevation in the area of Tucson.

In these mountains lies the Madera Canyon ( 31 ° 43 'N, 110 ° 53' W31.723055555556 - 110.88027777778 ) in which a bird nesting area and picnic area for migratory birds. In its vicinity, on Mount Hopkins, is the Smithsonian Institute Fred Whipple Observatory.

The Santa Rita Mountains are located in Santa Cruz County above the Santa Cruz River. The area is sparsely populated. Patagonia is the largest town (about 900 inhabitants) on the Sonoita Creek. There is also the Patagonia Lake State Park.
