History

The Santa Rosa County was formed on February 18, 1842 from parts of Escambia County. It was named after Rosa de Viterbo, a saint of the Roman Catholic Church.

Geography

The county has an area of ​​3040 square kilometers, of which 406 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered to the west by the Escambia County and on the east by the Okaloosa County.
