Santana is the third studio album by the Latin rock band Santana from San Francisco. To distinguish from the Santana also titled debut album, it is also called Santana III or The Third Album [A 1]. It was released in September 1971 by Columbia Records.

Santana stood in 1971 at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S.. It took with Supernatural again published a number-one album 28 years to Carlos Santana.

Ralph J. Gleason sees in the magazine Rolling Stone Album on the way of its two predecessors, but without its weak moments. The brass section of the band Tower of Power trumpeter Luis Gasca and he considers suitable for this kind of music.

For Thom Jurek of Allmusic the album is undeserved way in the shadow of his legendary predecessor Abraxas. The two lead guitars make the band raw, dark and powerful. The album is essential Santana. He gave the album four and a half out of five stars.
