Santiago de Murcia

Santiago de Murcia (* around 1682 in Madrid, † 1732 in Mexico) was a Spanish guitarist, composer and music theorist.

Murcia was from 1693 a pupil of Francisco Guerau in the choir of the royal chapel in Madrid. At the beginning of the 18th century he was a guitar teacher of Maria Luisa Gabriella of Savoy, the young wife of King Philip V

He traveled through France and the Spanish Netherlands. Through the discovery of three plants in Mexico and Chile opinion, Murcia traveled or moved into the new world was born. Most likely there was just trade relations.
