Sanzeno

Sanzeno ( German outdated Sanzinnen ) is a small village with 927 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Trentino. It is located about 24 km southwest of Bolzano, near the Lago di Santa Giustina. Archaeological findings prove that the place was inhabited at the time of Reti. From him the Fritz - Sanzeno culture takes its name. For some time there in the village an archaeological museum (Museo Retico ).

In the year 397 AD, were killed in the area originating from Cappadocia Christian martyrs Sisinius, Martyrius and Alexander. After Sisinius the parish church is named. The village itself is named after the saint, as the dialectal San Sesen (Holy Sisinius ) to Sanzeno was.

Well away from the inhabited center is the place of pilgrimage Saint Romedius (Italian: San Romedio ).
