The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Khan Na Yao, Min Buri, Lat Krabang, Prawet, Suan Luang, Bang Kapi and Bueng Kum.

History

Saphan Sung originally belonged to the district Bueng Kum. After a decision by the administration of 14 October 1997, he was separated together with Khan Na Yao Bueng Kum. The decree took effect on November 21, 1998 in force since Saphan Sung is a separate Khet.

Saphan Sung means High Bridge, which refers to the appearance of the Khlong - bridges, as the transport with boats on the canals of Thailand still being the only way to transport goods from one place to another. These bridges were also " Saphan Chang " ( Elephant bridges ), because they firstly looked like the arched back of a working elephant, secondly these bridges had to be strong enough to bear the weight of a full grown elephant can ( see Related links ).
