Saqqiz (Persian سقز; Kurdish سەقز, Seqiz ) is a Kurdish city in the Iranian province of Kordestān. The over 141,000 inhabitants are Kurds who speak the Sorani - Kurdish.

The city is located 1,493 meters high. Winters are cold and snowy, summers hot and dry. The first inhabitants of the city were the Medes and the Scythians ( Saka ), after which the city is named; so that is the foundation of the city in about 1000 BC dated.

Saqqiz ( Kurdish also: Seqiz ) is in winter the coldest cities in Iran.

Among the geographical features of the city include the northern end of the Zagros Mountains on the Chehel - Tscheschmeh.

The historic attractions include the archaeological site of Ziwiye east of the city, which dates back to early Scythian and Median period; and Karaftu cave with pre- historic tracks.
