Sâr Dubnotal

Sâr Dubnotal is the name of the fictional main character of a literary series.

The stories about Sâr Dubnotal originally published in 1909 in France within a twenty -volume pulp novel series.

The Sâr Dubnotal stories were published anonymously. Some literary scholars believe that they were written by Norbert Sevestre ( a prolific author of popular adventure series), many of which are similar fantastic elements included, although that has never been proven.

Overview

Sâr Dubnotal is a magician and a superhero, like Marvel's Doctor Strange.

He is a master of the occult that occurred under various names such as Napoleon of the invisible, Master of Psychagogik, El Tebib ( Doctorate in Arabic) or simply The Doctor.

Despite its elegant oriental presentation Sâr Dubnotal is a Westerner who has been trained by the Rosicrucians and then learn the secrets of the Hindu mystics. He is among others, enables telepathy, levitation and hypnotism.

One of two recurring enemies is the evil hypnotist Tserpchikoff of which proves that he is actually Jack the Ripper; the other is the Russian revolutionary Azzef, in real life, a time still living Russian terrorist.

The series started on 25 January 1909. In parentheses are (if known ), the title and issue numbers of the German edition.

Triva

From Sâr Dubnotal some short stories have appeared which have been published in the anthologies of the series Tales of the Shadowmen.

Sâr Dubnotal is mentioned in Volume 2 of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

1909-1910 were translated into German and published under the title Sâr Dubnotal the great minds banners in Germany as a pulp novel series 11 stories. 2012 is a new translation of the book novels No. 1-11 and No. 14 published by Gerd Frank (Dieter von Reeken -Verlag: " Sâr Dubnotal, the great minds Banner " and " Sâr Dubnotal, the astral detective " ) in 2013 followed by a further six book novels (No. 12, 13, 15, 17, 18 and 19 of the French order) in German translation by Gerd Frank ( Sâr Dubnotal, Volume 3: " nihilists and Vampire " ), also in Dieter von Reeken -Verlag. Thus, for the first time are 17 of the 20 book novels available in German.
