Sara Lee Corporation

Sara Lee Corporation was an American consumer goods manufacturers based in Downers Grove, Illinois. The company was founded in 1939 and employed approximately 41,000 employees in 2010. The Sara Lee Germany GmbH is a subsidiary of Chicago-based Sara Lee Corporation and has its headquarters in Mainz, ( Lage49.9656878.268285 ) (approx. 200 employees). Other sites are located in Cologne (approx. 200 employees) and in Mosbach (about 100 employees). 2005, the Group was radically restructured, it was among other things, the separation of the textile division ( Playtex, Wonderbra ) completed. The business has since based on five pillars:

  • Beverages (eg, Douwe Egberts )
  • Food ( Natreen )
  • Meat products ( Hillshire Farm)
  • Shoe polish ( Kiwi)
  • Household & Body Care ( Ambi Pur, Fissan Kids, Jovan, Pitralon ) this division was sold in large part to Unilever. The Ambi Pur brand was sold to Procter & Gamble in 2010.

Since 2006, Sara Lee Foods Europe is part of the U.S. meat company Smithfield Foods.

In September 2009 it was announced that the British-Dutch Unilever Group hat.Der submitted a binding offer of € 1.275 billion for the personal care division sale was 2010.

Breakdown

On July 4, 2012 Sara Lee was split into two independent companies. Hillshire Brands is responsible for the North American food activities. The activities outside of North America were transferred to DE Master Blenders in 1753 with headquarters in Amsterdam.
