History
The Saracens were founded in 1876 by former students of the Philological School in London's Marylebone. In 1878 it merged with the Crusaders. During the first sixty years of the club played on no less than ten different places on the northern outskirts, until he in 1939 definitely attracted the Bramley Road in today's urban district Enfield (even if the war to the actual performance operation until 1945 did not allow ).
The Saracens wore for many years games against the leading clubs of the country ( until 1987 there was no organized league) and were successful as they reached the semi-finals of the English Cup, especially in the 1970s. Most Viewers ( 5000 ) counted the stadium at Bramley Road in 1971 in a game against the Saracens an international selection, which ended 34:34.
1988 increased the Saracens in the Courage League on (now Aviva Premiership ). In 1993, the league was reduced to three teams, after which the Saracens had to dismount. Already in 1995, managed to rise again. At the end of the following season, the Saracens were again at the end of the table, but they escaped relegation, because the league was increased by two teams.
The 1997/98 season was a milestone in the club's history. The Saracens joined with Watford FC a cooperation agreement. By 2013, the first team played in the stadium at the Vicarage Road, more than four times as large as the club's stadium. In addition, they won in 2011 for the first and only time the FA Cup; in the final they defeated the Wasps with 48:18. In the season 1999/2000 and 2000/ 01, the Saracens at the Heineken European Cup took part.
In the 2009/10 season, the Saracens came for the first time before the final, in which they but subject to the Leicester Tigers. The revenge they succeeded in the following season 2010/11, when they met again in the finals on the Tigers, won with 22:18 and thus brought the league title for the first time. 2013 moved to the Saracens in the renovated Park Alliance.
