History

The word Sarafan is most likely due to the Persian word Serp ( Engl. " expensive stuff" ) back and described originally expensive clothing in general. The Sarafan was designed in the early 14th century and carried down to the mid 20th century. He originally belonged to the wardrobe of noble men of the Czar Court, but found in the 16th century and women fashionable appeal. He eventually was initially as unisex ( was so attracted to men and women alike) and quickly developed into the pure, salon enabled women's fashion. Today Sarafane be worn only on traditional festivals and dance and theater performances.
