Sarah Meier (figure skater)

Sarah Meier ( born May 4, 1984 in Bülach, Canton Zurich ) is a Swiss figure skater.

Biography

Sarah Meier began skating at the age of four Bülacher Skating Club and was coached among others by her aunt Eva Fehr. In 2000, she was at the early age of 15 years for the first time Swiss champion in a single run; to 2010, she won another seven national titles.

2006 surprised Sarah Meier with top rankings in international competitions: At the Olympic Winter Games in Turin, she was eighth, at the European Championships in Lyon, she finished fourth and at the World Championships in Calgary Sixth. She improved her personal freestyle personal best of 106.29 to 109.96 points previously.

On 27 January 2007 Sarah Meier won the second place their first medal at the European Championship and took so after 30 years a medal for Switzerland at the ladies. On January 29, 2011, she was in Bern on home turf European champion. Even before the 2011 European Championship, the runner had announced their retirement from competitive skating, she has confirmed the resignation after winning the Swiss television.

Sarah Meier lives since the summer of 2010 in Zurich. In December 2011 she was elected to the Swiss Sportswoman of the Year.
