Sardinian Anglo-Arab

Sardinian horse, even Sardinian Anglo-Arab or short Sardo called a warmblood breed of Sardinia, which has its origins in the 16th century. The horses are well known in their homeland as tenacious and persevering riding horses and good jumper. You have hardness and willingness to perform and are described as brave and intelligent.

Features

The horses of this breed are large by 157 cm, and usually appear in shades of brown. You can see them clearly the oriental influence on, however, many of the horses have to have large deficiencies. Characteristic are the long, sloping shoulder and the weak muscled hindquarters, though usually with tail set. In addition, the horses have mostly long tubes and the hind legs are rarely correct.

Breeding

The ancestors of the breed originated in the 16th century from Arabs and Berbers. Later Ferdinand introduced the Catholic nor Spanish blood. As of 1720, the breed was neglected, and in 1908 resumed with the introduction of Arab stallions to improve. Studs on which the Sardinian horse was bred and are at Santu Lussurgiu Padromannu, Mores, Monte Minerva and Abbasanta.
