Sare

Sare ( Basque: Sara ) is a commune with 2517 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Pyrénées- Atlantiques in the Aquitaine region. It belongs to the district of Bayonne and the canton of Espelette, the latter to the French Basque country.

Sare is one of the most beautiful villages in France.

At the beginning of the 19th century Sare was divided into seven sections: Hariztegi, Zugaramurdi Sainte -Barbe, la Palombière, Ibantelli, Rhune and la Place. Today Sare composed by 12 neighborhoods: Ahuntz karrika, Basaburua, Egimehar, Erremuxil, Goiburu, Haranburua, Herbarrun, Ihalar, Iztilarte, Lapitzea, Lehenbizkai and Olhaldea

Neighboring communities are Saint-Pee- sur -Nivelle in the northeast, Urdazubi / Urdax the southeast, Etxalar in the south, as well as consulting in the southwest Urrugne ( point of contact ) and Ascain and in the Northwest.
