Large arbor Hussars fish ( Sargocentron spiniferum )

Sargocentron is a genus of fish Hussars ( Holocentrinae ). To this genus 34 species are counted with rather stocky physique that live in the Caribbean and the tropical Indo-Pacific.

Features

Your body is 2.5 - up to 3.5 times longer than high. The fish have a pointed mouth. The lower jaw is not, as in the genus Neoniphon before. The last fin ray of the first dorsal fin is hartstrahligen from the first dorsal spine of the second soft-rayed dorsal fin just as far away as from its forward neighbor. Sargocentron species are 7-45 centimeters long. They are reddish, brownish or silvery color and carry on their flanks often vertical stripes. The opercular spines of some Indo-Pacific species of the genus are poisonous and can cause painful wounds. In Atlantic species no toxic effect is known.
