Sarnia Sting

History

In 1994, the brothers Robert and Dino Ciccarelli bought the franchise of the Newmarket Royals and left it out of Newmarket, Ontario, relocated to her hometown of Sarnia and rename it in Sarnia Sting. The Junior B team the Sarnia Bees was forced in 1995 to change its name to Steeplejacks to bypass the powerful competition from the OHL. The reason for this was that the logo of the Sarnia Sting shows a bee sting with extended. Robert Ciccarelli was appointed to the franchise for the OHL Executive of the Year in the 1999/2000 season due to his merits. So far, the team was able to win their own division only in the season 2003/ 04. In the playoffs, you never make it past the second round in which they failed in 1996 at the Peterborough Petes, and 1997 and 2008 at the Kitchener Rangers.
