Saro London

The Saunders -Roe (or abbreviated Saro ) A.27 London was a British flying boat manufacturer Saunders -Roe, which was used for patrol flights.

The first version of London with two engines Bristol Pegasus III, each 875 hp was written in 1935 and was designed as a long-range reconnaissance flying boat. As the mass production of modern Eindeckerflugboote in the UK delayed several times, in 1938 came out a reinforced version of the aircraft. This now A.27 London II said machine remained until November 1942 on active duty and then was the Short Sunderland flying boats now available and Consolidated Catalina replaced. Until then, the London II was used in four squadrons of the RAF Coastal Command.

She was a zweistieliger, tense sesquiplane with abgestrebtem double rudder. Passed wings and tail of a steel frame with fabric covering, the hull boat (two-stage ) and the support float ( single-stage) were performed in all-metal construction. The two engine nacelles were arranged suspended under the middle part of the upper wing. One night and blind flying equipment was available.
