Sarojini Naidu

Sarojini Naidu ( born February 13, 1879 in Hyderabad; † 2 March 1949 in Allahabad ) was an Indian poet.

As a confidant of Mahatma Gandhi Naidu was a key figure in the independence movement and had to be repeated in captivity. 1925 in Kanpur, she was the first woman president of the Indian National Congress.

She was the first governor of any state in India, from Uttar Pradesh from 15 August 1947 to the day of India's independence from Great Britain, until her death in 1949.

Padmaja Naidu your daughter (1900-1975) was also a politician.
