Origin and History

The sarplaninac is a breed created over the centuries, which accompanied the shepherds in the area of Serbia and Macedonia as a livestock guardian dog. It was named after the nearby on the border between Kosovo and Macedonia Mountains " Šar Planina ", the first official standard was established in 1930. Registration took place in 1939 at the FCI under the name Illyrian Sheepdog ( Ilirski ovčar ), but ( Kraški ovčar ) has not yet between the ( present ) sarplaninac and the Karst Shepherd Dog distinguished. Description
