Sarrians

Sarrians is a commune with 5837 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Vaucluse department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur; it belongs to the district of Carpentras and the canton of Carpentras -Nord.

Geography

Sarrians located 15 kilometers south-east of Orange and eight kilometers northwest of Carpentras at the D 950 in the valley of Brégoux.

History

Because of archaeological finds (coins, graves ) it is known that the Romans settled in the area of sarrians. The place was called later Puyricard, he is nothing but survived. In 1060, a new town was founded, which was given its present name.
