Sarrusophone

The sarrusophone is a built in various sizes, double reed instrument. Its body is made of metal. Because of its mouthpiece, but it is counted among the woodwinds.

Pierre- Auguste Sarrus developed the Sarrusophon in the 19th century for the French military music as acoustically powerful alternatives to oboe and bassoon.

Some Sarrusophon can be seen in the Musée de la musique in Paris, another in the Munich City Museum and the Museum of Musical Instruments Berlin.
