Sasago-Tunnel

The Sasago tunnel (Japanese笹子 トンネル, Sasago tonneru ) is a road tunnel in the Chūō - toll highway in Japan. It connects the cities of Otsuki ( district Sasago -machi ) and Kōshū ( district of Yamato -chō ) in Yamanashi prefecture.

The 4784 and 4717 m, depending on the tube, long tunnel is located about 80 km west of Tokyo, consists of two tubes and opened in 1977.

On December 2, 2012, a collapse occurred 150 ceiling panels each 1.2 tons to 50 to 60 m in length. It also occurred to fire. There were five deaths and seven missing.
