Sascha Heyer

Sascha Heyer ( born July 21, 1972 in Zurich, Switzerland ) is a former Swiss beach volleyball player.

Career

Heyer began his volleyball career at VBC Säuliamt. Before Heyer came to volleyball, he played tennis. However, for this sport he was gradually large with 203 cm. Two years later he was already in the squad of the national team. In 1993 he moved to MTV Naefels and in the 1998/99 season he was with the VfB Friedrichshafen German league and cup.

After he had been active with multiple partners in beach volleyball before, he formed in 2000 with a solid duo Markus Egger. The team reached the 2000 European Championship final, in 2001 European champion, reached the third place in 2003 European Championship and again in 2004 the European Championship final. After Egger 2004 resigned Heyer played with Paul Laciga. At the World Championships in Berlin in 2005 they lost only in the ending the Brasiliandern Márcio Araújo and Fábio Luiz. As of 2007, Patrick Heuscher Heyer was a partner. The coached by Jürgen Wagner duo finished ninth and fifth at the European Championships in 2007 and 2008. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 Heuscher / Heyer eliminated after the first round of group as third parties. After four years together, the duo parted Heyer - Heuscher the end of 2010 for sporting reasons. Sascha Heyer played again together with Sébastien Chevallier. Already at their second joint appearance on the FIVB World Tour to Heyer - Chevallier brought on Prague Open the bronze medal. At his second Olympic Games in London 2012 Heyer / Chevallier failed in the second round at the poles Fijalek and Prudel. Before the 2012 Olympics Heyer was 40 years his resignation at the end of the season known.

Sascha Heyer won seven Swiss championships, the last at the end of his career: in 2012 along with Sébastien Chevallier.
