Sashimono

A sashimono (Japanese指物, dt about "show cause" ) is a worn by Japanese samurai on the back standard.

When the armies got bigger, strapped to the back of the armor sashimono facilitated the recognition and matching of fighters. The sashimono was marked with the Mon of the commander. The mast ( uke utsu ) was put in a round or square sleeve ( machi uke ).
