SaskPower is a Canadian energy company based in Regina, Saskatchewan. The company operates several power plants in Saskatchewan and Alberta, and is wholly owned by the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

History

SaskPower was established in 1929 to coordinate the Saskatchewan Power Commission, the electricity supply to the province of Saskatchewan. In the same year the company took with the Humboldt Generating Station its first power plant in operation. In 1949 it was renamed the Saskatchewan Power Corporation, which has since acted as a Crown corporation ( state companies).

1959, work began on the dam project on the South Saskatchewan River, which also includes the hydroelectric plant Coteau Creek. In 1963, the new headquarters of SaskPower was opened in Regina. Since 1987, the company acts outwards to by the abbreviation SaskPower.
