SATA International

SATA Internacional is a Portuguese airline based in Ponta Delgada in the Azores. It is a subsidiary of SATA Air Açores and how this their home base on the Ponta Delgada airport.

History

SATA Internacional was founded in 1990 under the name OceanAir. In 1994, the company was acquired by SATA Air Açores and carries since 1998 the present name. The end of 2001 could be welcomed its millionth passenger.

SATA Internacional received in 2010 by the Portuguese government, 9.4 million euros in return for the flights to and from the islands. In the same year a new corporate design has been introduced.

Destinations

Within Portugal SATA Internacional flies to Funchal in Madeira, Lisbon, Faro and Porto. Across Europe, among others Frankfurt, Munich (via postage), Amsterdam and Zurich brought for destinations. Long-haul flights are currently available to Toronto and Boston as well as seasonal and Montreal and Oakland. The amount of North American connections is due to the large number of Azoreanern, who emigrated to North America.

Since September 27, 2012 SATA flies once a week to Salvador da Bahia in Brazil.

The fleet of SATA Internacional is as of January 2014 with eight aircraft with an average age of 15.9 years:
