Sather Tower

The Sather Tower, in reference to its Venetian model ( Campanile ) also known as the Campanile, is 93.6 meters high bell tower of the largest outside Italy. He is the symbol of the University of California at Berkeley. Work on the plan by architect John Galen Howard building were completed in 1914, and three years later the tower was first opened to the public. Was donated and paid for the Sather Tower by Jane K. Sather, a benefactor of the University.

Visitor information

About an elevator takes you to the situated at a height of 61 meters viewing platform. From there you have a view of the campus, the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. The tower houses a carillon, consisting of 61 bells. On weekdays place at 7:50 clock, noon and at 18:00 clock, a bell concert instead. The tower is open on weekdays from 10:00 to 16:00 clock.
