Location of Satrup in Schleswig-Holstein

Satrup is a village in the district of Schleswig -Flensburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. Since March 1, 2013, is a district and the seat of the municipality means fishing.

Geography and transport

Satrup is located about 15 km southeast of Flensburg in a rural area between the Federal Highway 7 (Hamburg - Flensburg ) to the west, the highway 199 ( Kappeln - Flensburg ) to the north and east and the highway 201 ( Kappeln - Husum ) in the south.

History

Prehistory and Early History

West of Satrup near the mill creek, there is a now barely recognizable hill that was built in the Middle Ages to a motte (Chateau de la motte, moth ). The easternmost Satrupholmer Moor has numerous archaeological sites from the Mesolithic, the Ertebolle culture and the Neolithic period.

The Church and the Satruper tab

The late Romanesque stone church of Satrup was built in the 12th century. Immured in the north-west corner of the nave is a relief of a knight image, the " Satruper tab". The costume of the Knight points to the 12th century and is the oldest image of a knight in Schleswig -Holstein. It served as a template for the Satruper crest.

The village Satrup itself, which was about church Venue since 1200, was first mentioned in 1407 as " Satorp ". The place name is interpreted as " village of the Soti ". Satrup originally belonged to Struxdorfharde. Only in 1657 was it resolved it, when it fell to the Good Satrupholm.
