Sattahip District

Amphoe Sattahip ( Thai: อำเภอ สัตหีบ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Chonburi. The Chonburi province is located in the eastern part of central Thailand.

Geography

Sattahip located in the southern part of the province, near the tourist center Pattaya. The neighboring Amphoe are from clockwise from the north: Bang Lamung in the province of Chonburi and Amphoe Ban Chang Rayong province. To the south and west is the Gulf of Thailand.

History

In Sattahip is the largest naval base of the Royal Thai Navy. During the Vietnam War the nearby U-Tapao Airport was used extensively by the U.S. Air Force.

This was from December 2002 to January 2003, the 20th World Scout Jamboree held in 2002/2003.

Management

Amphoe Sattahip is divided into five communities ( tambon), which in turn in 41 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Sattahip itself ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง สัตหีบ ) has a city - state ( thesaban Mueang ), it consists of parts of the tambon Sattahip and Phlu Ta Luang.

There are also four small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Sattahip ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สัตหีบ ) also consists of parts of the Tambon Sattahip,
  • Na Chom Thian ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นา จอม เทียน ) consists of Tambon Na Chom Thian parts of,
  • Bang Sare ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บาง เส ร่ ) consists of parts of the tambon Bang Sare,
  • Climbing Kaeo ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เกล็ด แก้ว ) also consists of parts of the tambon Bang Sare.

There are also three - Tambon administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).
