Saturninus (consul 383)

Flavius ​​Saturninus ( * before 377; † after 400 ) was a late Roman officer, who lived in the 4th century AD.

Saturninus was apparently a Christian. There is evidence that he harbored a bishop, a monastery founded and stood with Gregory of Nazianzus in correspondence. He was in the military career and fought 377/78 against the Goths. As Master of the Soldiers by Thracias he joined in early October 382 on behalf of the emperor in the East, Theodosius I, a treaty with the Goths from, which assigned them land on the Lower Danube, for which they should serve as foederati at war Falls.

As a reward for his services he was in the year 383, the consulate hold. In fact, this act represents a huge favor from the part of the Emperor, as this will itself act as consul would actually his four-year jubilee.
