Geographical Location

The Sauberg located south of Breitenbrunn between small and large local creek. It was named for the wild boars, which often inflicted great damage the adjacent agricultural fields.

History

The Sauberg was a popular place for hunts of the Elector of Saxony. So here a total of 397 pieces big game were hunted in 1665. Furthermore, the mountain can look back on a long mining history. By 1884 stood on the eastern slope of the mountain in the Gran local creek the Huthaus of mine Valerian treasure trove, popularly called the Dorothee.

After 1945, uranium mining was carried on Sauberg, which can still be seen several mine dumps. The property houses of the miners were used as operating summer camp of the Inter flight in Dresden and later as a restaurant and holiday complex since the end of 1950s.
