Saubraz

Saubraz is a municipality in the district of Morges in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Geography

Saubraz is located on 687 m above sea level. M., 13 km west of the district capital Morges ( straight line ). The farming village stands on a plateau at the foot of the Jura between the ravines of Saubrette in the south and in the north Toleure.

The area of ​​3.7 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the Jura plateau. The creek and its left tributary Saubrette Toleure drain the area to the east of Aubonne. Population

With 363 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Saubraz one of the small communities of the Canton of Vaud. History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1237 under the name Sabrun and Salbrum 1251 appeared the name Saubra. The village grew up around a church that belonged to the Premonstratensian Lac- de -Joux (L' Abbaye ) and 1251 burned down. Later Saubraz came to the Lords of Aubonne. Since the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536 Saubraz shared the fortunes of Aubonne 1701 and came to the bailiwick Aubonne.
