Saugeot

Saugeot is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Saugeot is located on 676 m above sea level. M., 23 km east-southeast of the town of Lons -le- Saunier (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, on the high plateau of Champagnole Combe d' Ain between the west and the chains of the high Jura in the east, north of the creek Talniederung Sirene.

History

In the Middle Ages the area of Saugeot the land of the Carthusian monastery Bonlieu belonged. The water power of the Sirene was used early on in the operation of a mill and a fulling mill. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Population

Economy and infrastructure

The Turkish national football team Mevlut Erdinç spent his youth here. He played in his youth at FC Saugeot.
