Saulius Å tombergas

Saulius Štombergas ( born December 14, 1973 in Klaipėda) is a Lithuanian basketball coach and former player. While he usually ran aground in the club as a small forward, he took in the national team because of the competition in this position by Artūras Karnišovas rather the role of a Power Forwards one. Since 2013 he has been head coach of Zalgiris Kaunas.

Career

Association

In his first season in the squad Zalgiris Kaunas of Štombergas won the 1993 league and cup double in. After three years at Atletas Kaunas, he moved to China to Shanghai Vostok in the CBA, where he was one of the first international stars of the league. Back at Zalgiris Kaunas, he won within the next two seasons two other Lithuanian Championships, the European Cup Winners 'Cup in 1998 and surprisingly the European Champions Cup in 1999. From 2009 to 2010 Štombergas was active in UNICS Kazan again.

National

Štombergas belonged for years to the most important pillars of the Lithuanian national team.
