Saulkrasti
Saulkrasti (literally, sunny coast ', German Neubad ) is a small town on the coast of the Gulf of Riga in Latvia.
Geographical Location
Saulkrasti is located north-northeast of Riga and stretches about 17 km along the Via Baltica ( Europe Road 67 ) on the banks of the Gulf of Riga. The place begins in the south at the river Incupe ( Latvian: Inčupe ) is traversed in the other of the rivers Peterupe ( Latvian: Peterupe ) and Kisupe ( Latvian: Ķīšupe ) and ends in the north beyond the river Adje ( Latvian: AGE).

- Resort ( Latvian: Bādciems )
- Katharinenbad ( Latvian: Katrīnbāde (now Pabaži ) )
- St. Peter's chapel (in Latvian: Peterupe )
- Neubad ( Latvian: Neibāde )
- Fishing (in Latvian: Zvejniekciems )
City Arms
The emblem symbolizes Saulkrasti up the sun in the sky by a golden semi-circle on blue and down through from green to silver split representation, the four rivers (silver) and the 5 districts (green).

History
- Saulkrasti was formed in 1933 as an administrative unit of the places resort, Neubad and Peter Bach.
- In 1935 the railway line Riga - Rūjiena expanded with a total of 4 stops on the territory of Saulkrasti.
- 1950 Pabazi (formerly Katharinenbad ) was incorporated. The term " Katharinenbad " was selected the Great ( Catherine II ) after winning in 1762 the Russian Empress Catherine. She ran in 1764 from St. Petersburg coming through this place to take a bath and the " Linde hard " (in honor of the then widespread tree in the Baltic dunes ) to participate.
- 1967 fishing village was incorporated.
- 1991 Saulkrasti received the status of a city.
The term " Saulkrasti " is made up of the Latvian word for sun ( saule ) and the Latvian word for shore ( Krasts ) - ie " the sunny shore " or " beach sun ".
