Sauraha

Sauraha ( Nepali: सौराहा ) is a place in Nepal in Chitwan district in the Management Zone Narayani. It is separated by the west of the town lying Rapti River from Chitwan National Park. The village is heavily influenced by tourism. For tourists, there are numerous hotels, restaurants, internet cafes and shops. In the vicinity there is a sanctuary for elephants, which can be visited by tourists. In 2007 there were about 1,500 beds for tourists. The number of tourists who visit the place varies greatly. The main reason is political strikes with roadblocks, which unsettle the tourists and make access to the site.

1984, the village was inundated by a flood of the Rapti.
