Sautens

Sautens is a municipality in the district of Imst ( district court Silz ) in Tirol, Austria with 1421 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Sautens located at the entrance of the Ötztal, on two broad Murkegeln.

Haderlehn is about two kilometers from the town center Sautens and located on a plateau surrounded by meadows and forests. There is a riding stable ( Pienz ) and self catering holiday homes.

Situated off the main road community is made up of several hamlets that are now connected in a long row of houses in a village. The hamlet of Ritzlerhof and Haderlehn. The area is located in a sunny and sheltered from the wind and has a particularly mild climate, which makes especially fruit growing agriculture possible. A part of the fruit is processed on site to fruit brandy.

History

Sautens is probably inhabited since prehistoric times, even from the place name is believed that he is pre-Roman origin.

From the 8th century Bavarians settled on the two Murkegeln. Since the 14th century, several courtyards are occupied, among the various landlords. In the 18th century was mined above Sautens not very productive after chalcopyrite. Until 1836 Sautens was still connected with Oetz, then an independent municipality.

The Mure repeatedly threatened the municipal area, but since 1903 extensive obstruction measures have been taken.

After the railway through the Upper Inn Valley (1884 ) and the construction of the new road from Ötztal-Bahnhof to Oetz on the right bank of the Ötztal Ache the old village street was meaningless. With the construction of a bridge over the Ache and a road to Sautens the formerly rural village turned into a tourist resort.

  • Old Parish Church: Built in 1517, enlarged two times, since the inauguration of the new parish church serves (1831 in the style of late classicism ) profane purposes
  • New Parish Church: Built in 1831 in the style of late classicism, renovated in 2007, one of the most beautiful village churches in Tyrol
