Savadkuh County

Savādkuh (also Savādkoh, Savādkooh, Persian سوادکوه ) is an administrative district ( Schahrestān ) in the Iranian province of Māzandarān. It has an area of 2078 km ² and about 68,000 inhabitants. The capital is Pol- Sefid.

Savādkuh located in the south of the province between Firuzkuh and Qāemschahr. Savādkuh is one of the main mining areas for fluorine in Northern Iran. In addition, coal, dolomite, gypsum, gravel and sand is mined. The district is surrounded by mountains and known for Ālāscht, the birthplace of Reza Pahlavi, the former Shah and founder of the Pahlavi dynasty. Besides Ālāscht are in Savādkuh the cities Polefid, Zirab and Shirgah.
