Saving Face (2012 film)

Saving Face is a documentary by Sharmeen Obaid US-amerikanischer/pakistanischer - Chinoy and Daniel Junge. Subject of the documentary are acid attacks on women in Pakistan. The film won the 2012 Oscar for Best Short Documentary, whereby the director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy became the first - person from Pakistan simultaneously, which was nominated for the award and won it. Action

The documentary Saving Face follows the one in London living, Pakistani plastic surgeon Dr. Mohammad Jawad, as he returns to his home country to help victims of acid attacks. The film deals with the cases of two women who were victims of such attacks, and their struggle for justice and healing. The Acid Survivors Foundation of Pakistan, which also featured in the film, documented 100 cases of acid attacks in Pakistan each year, assuming that the dark figure is much higher due to a unsuccessful messages. The majority of victims are women.
