Savyon Liebrecht

Savyon Liebrecht ( born 1948 in Munich) is an Israeli writer.

Life

Savyon Liebrecht was born as the daughter of Polish- Jewish parents who had survived the Holocaust. She grew up in Israel and studied philosophy and literary studies in Tel Aviv. During her military service, she began her literary activity. She wrote plays, TV scripts, novels and short stories that have appeared in German.

"I had no grandparents or aunts, or cousins. But when we were done, as if it were normal, tells Savyon Liebrecht. To this day, she does not know how many of their relatives were killed in concentration camps because their parents were silent. "

2007 her play was the banality of love about Hannah Arendt and Martin Heidegger premiered in German translation in Bonn, before the premiere in Tel Aviv: a political and moral love piece.

In 1987 Liebrecht received in Israel Alterman price, in 2002 she received the Amelia Rosselli Prize of the city of Rome. In Israel, she was twice Dramatist of the Year.
