Sawbridgeworth is a city in the county of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom, with 7,666 inhabitants ( 2001 census).

The town is located east of the town of Hertford between Bishop 's Stortford and Harlow on the A11. Sawbridgeworth has a rail link to Liverpool Street Station in London. The River Stort flows east of the city, behind the maltings past (now a small business and a residential area).

The city is managed by the East Hertfordshire district council. The local city council currently has twelve councilors. Sawbridgeworth entertains with Bry -sur- Marne ( France) since 1973, a twinning.

Worth seeing is the " Great St. Mary's Church " is ( Great St Mary 's church ) of the 13th century. The " Tudor Tower" houses a clock tower in 1664 and eight bells, the oldest of which was produced in 1749.

The Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club is one of the leading cricket clubs in the south of England. The team plays in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League. Home ground of the association founded in 1897 is the Town Fields.

Best-known inhabitants of the city are Victoria and David Beckham. Both celebrities live since 1999 ( also known as " Beckingham Palace " ) in Rowneybury House.
