Sawfish (window manager)

Sawfish (German Sawfish ) is a well-known formerly under Sawmill (German sawmill ) window manager for the X Window System. The name had to be changed due to trademark claim by a third party.

Sawfish uses for its entire code base, a LISP-like scripting language ( librep ), which facilitates expand. He was the standard window manager of GNOME to version number 2.1, where it was replaced by Metacity. Sawfish was popular with its users, because it is very configurable. The decision of the GNOME developers to now only use Metacity, therefore, was very controversial.
