Sawhorse

A buck or tray is a robust object which is used to raise something in a stable manner ( jacking ). In addition, Bock or Gais is an old word for certain attachments.

When the tray feet are each mounted in an X shape ( Schrage position), Bock is the overhand grip for A- forms. Trays as well as general goats can be collapsible.

Basics

Typical is a height of about one meter. Typical materials for rams are wood or metal.

Blocks are used in a variety of areas: Usually they come in the craft for use, but also for the storage of boats, for example, special blocks are used. In bakeries baking sheets are stored with pastry or dough on most mobile tray.

Bearing block

In the technical language of engineering mechanics, a bearing block denotes a fixing element which serves to limit another part in its mobility, so as to reduce its degrees of freedom. Bearing blocks usually have a heavy design and are fixed by screwing or high friction on the ground in order to absorb the forces of mechanical elements can. The bearing blocks are used for example, machines or systems are subjected to continuous movement by rotation or vibration, to fix the bottom of the building. Cranes are fixed to the ground by bearing blocks in the form of concrete bases. This prevents tipping or falling over. For rotary axes / waves are bearing blocks, which usually contain a well- lubricated ball bearings to accommodate axial and transverse forces so that the axis remains in its set position and can only run a torque.

Sawhorse

As a Sawhorse is called a tray, which is used for immobilization of the saw goods. It consists mainly of two in the middle with a long wooden crosses connected, in the ends of logs, timbers, beams, etc. placed and fixed ( partly by hand) or else, as with fretwork on a suitable substrate ( table, etc. ) screwed and the piece to be machined is guided therein.

Schrage table

The tray can be covered with wooden panels and used as a table. They are simple, makeshift furniture that appear early on in the story. Also stool in this form were common.

Bock and Gais

Devices with four stable feet in the size of the goat ( in analogy to the stability of a " stubborn goat " ), so you can work on it sitting, it is called buck or Gais. Historical examples of the shingle goat for manufacture of wood shingles or the Dengelgaiß for peening a scythe.
