Sawi people

The Sawi are a tribe in western New Guinea, Indonesia. Until the 1960s they lived as cannibalistic head hunters and no contact to civilization.

Since then converted many tribesmen to Christianity. In 1962, the missionary couple Don and Carol Richardson came to this tribe. The couple lived 15 years among the Sawi. Arrested are the experiences in Richardson's book Peace Child.
