Saxifragales

Fettenhennen - saxifrage ( Saxifraga aizoides )

The Saxifrage -like ( Saxifragales ) are an order of flowering plant ( Magnoliopsida ).

Description

Since this order summarizes molecular genetic belong together families, there are few morphological similarities.

In this order there is a wide variety of growth forms of annual over perennial herbaceous plants to shrubs and trees. Some species are succulents. Two species are root parasites. Also, some water plants there. Usually the leaves are alternate. Stipules are often present, but for example not in the Crassulaceae.

The flowers are usually fünfzählig. The bloom are clearly differentiated into sepals and petals. The carpels are primarily free (eg Crassulaceae ) with a tendency to coalescence - coenocarper ovary (eg Saxifragaceae ). Often the ovary are semi - to fully under constant. The pollen grains often have a grooved surface.

System

To order the Saxifrage -like ( Saxifragales ) is within the Kerneudikotyledonen the sister group of the Rosids clade. To her the following families are counted:

  • Altingiaceae
  • Aphanopetalaceae
  • Cercidiphyllaceae
  • Crassulaceae ( Crassulaceae )
  • Daphniphyllaceae
  • Gooseberry plants ( Grossulariaceae )
  • Milfoil plants ( Haloragaceae )
  • Hamamelisgewächse ( Hamamelidaceae )
  • Iteaceae, including Pterostemonaceae
  • Peony plants ( Paeoniaceae )
  • Penthoraceae
  • Peridiscaceae, including Medusandraceae and Soyauxia
  • Saxifrage family ( Saxifragaceae )
  • Tetracarpaeaceae

In the order of Saxifragales positions of the individual families are clearly demonstrated by molecular genetic data. In the past, however, these families were incorporated into many different orders, because they differ in their morphology sometimes very. Previously, the saxifrage family ( Saxifragaceae ) were about to order the rose -like ( Rosales ) counted. In the above given cladogram the chlorophyllosen root parasites of Cynomoriaceae have not found a place. Isolated in this cladogram are the woody Peridiscaceae. The woody taxa Paeoniaceae, Altingiaceae, Hamamelidaceae, Cercidiphyllaceae, Daphniphyllaceae form a clade secured. The families Crassulaceae, Aphanopetalaceae, Tetracarpaeaceae, Peridiscaceae, Haloragaceae also form a clade secured. Pterostemonaceae with Iteaceae and Grossulariaceae with Saxifragaceae are each sister groups and together form a clade.
