The state election in Saxony in 1999 was the third election to the Parliament of Saxony and took place on 19 September 1999.

Result

According to the official results, the CDU defended by Prime Minister Kurt Biedenkopf its absolute majority significantly, reaching 56.9 percent of the vote. Again she took all 60 directly elected seats. The PDS was with vote gains of more than five percentage points the first time, the second largest party in Saxony and twice as strong as the SPD, which until then import its worst result in strong and vocal losses reached only 10.7 percent. The Greens failed again on entry into the state parliament and had also recorded loss of votes, but remained strongest not in the parliament represented party. The Party Pro German middle - Initiative Pro D- Mark, which contested the first time, scored from the state a score of 2.1 points, thereby REP, NPD and FDP behind.

As a result of the election, the CDU - party government was continued in the Cabinet Biedenkopf III.

The turnout was 61.1 % and thus increased compared to 1994 by 2.7 percentage points.
