Saya (artform)

The Saya is a dance of the Andean countries. It originated in the 19th century in the Milieu of black slaves.

The rhythm of Saya is characterized by a fast and consistent, vibrant drum rhythm. The time signature is a mixture of a normal and a 4/4-time 12/8-Takt what brings the music a special kind of funkiness.
