Saya (artform)
The Saya is a dance of the Andean countries. It originated in the 19th century in the Milieu of black slaves.
The rhythm of Saya is characterized by a fast and consistent, vibrant drum rhythm. The time signature is a mixture of a normal and a 4/4-time 12/8-Takt what brings the music a special kind of funkiness. Especially with the youth of the Andean area of dance is still very popular and is also played in nightclubs.
Other instruments that are often involved in the Saya are: guitar, charango, Sicus (panpipe ) and quena.
